Employers: Looking to hire engineering talent abroad?
Candidates: Wondering how to maximize your earning potential and build a thriving career?
Here’s your one-stop shop for resources about tech salaries in Canada, Europe, and Latin America.

Canada
North America’s fastest-growing tech hub, Canada boasts a large tech community that promotes continuous learning. There are numerous successful startups in the country, such as Wealthsimple, Hopper, Element AI, TouchBistro, and ApplyBoard. There has also been tremendous growth in venture capital investment.

Europe
Europe offers a vast tech landscape with talent hubs in countries like Poland, Romania, and Spain. Startup accelerators, branches of tech giants like Google and Apple, and government initiatives make the region particularly attractive for sourcing quality engineers.

Latin America
With large investments in education and innovation, Latin America’s tech scene is steadily growing. Investments in startups and entrepreneurship foster a strong ecosystem across countries like Chile, Mexico, Colombia, and Costa Rica.
International hiring is booming.
The majority of U.S. engineering leaders are planning to hire abroad or already do. Comparatively low costs, new and emerging tech hubs, regional tech investments, and the rise of cutting-edge technologies are just some factors driving this trend.
Full-stack and backend engineers are in the highest demand.
The most in-demand tech roles are full-stack and backend engineers across Canada, Latin America, and Europe. However, demand doesn’t always correlate to the highest-paying roles. Specialized roles like data scientist and DevOps engineer are typically the highest-paid jobs.
International salaries are consistently lower than those of U.S. engineers.
Canada is the highest-paying market, while Spain is the lowest, with median salaries less than half of those in the U.S. But across the board, salaries in regions outside the U.S. are lower, even when factoring in employment costs.
